A day on the train...

Today had to have been one of the busiest days I have had in a while. It was full of errands and technology. Of course I started out with an Iced Latte from Cipolina, my new neighborhood coffee stop, and then I went onto the thrift store. It had been way too long since I went thrifting. Boy am I glad I made the time to, I found some amazing stuff, you'll get to see it up for sale next week at The Vintage Bazaar. Dethrose Vintage will have sooooo much new stuff to be shown there. Now onto the fun stuff, I finally got my new, first computer purchase of my life! So exciting, really I can't explain how attached I already am to this little Macbook. It's just so new and pretty, haha. I am beyond ecstatic with this purchase. But it doesn't stop there, I also got the new Samsung Vibrant phone today. I am slowly learning how to be a little bit more computer savvy but I am well on my way. Over the past 11 months I have been teaching myself how to do a lot on the electronics I have. I already love my camera and I am finally becoming more comfortable with that. My pictures keep improving, however, I must admit that I could still make do with a less extravagant camera.

After a long day of running around, I came across this little abandoned are where the EL runs over. I pulled over got my camera out and started shooting. I kinda love the way they turned out. Let me know what you think...

These are all the things I've been feeling over the past few days. Finally, everything is coming together and becoming quite exciting.

Every customer I have had at Dethrose the past two weeks have simply been the sweetest! You are all really taking advantage of the sale items and the new stock has been really well received. It really makes my day making my little packages to send off to you! So I am adding more and more this weekend but that will be it until thee 2nd week of September. I have the 2 really big sales on the 22nd and the weekend of the 4th of September. One of course is the Vintage Bazaar and the other is Vintage Heaven. Stay tuned for some special offers if you come to either one of these vintage sales.

I'm also anticipating the return of a really rad and lovely person to Chicago and when that happens I hope some really awesome photos and something huge for Dethrose will be taking place. That's all I can say right now but it's going to be something truly great!!

Oh! and the return of another lovely friend that has been on vacation for far too long! I'm so ready for his arrival and can't wait to have a blast!!! Mwah!!

Denim and Dethrose

For all of you that know me, you know I manage a designer denim store Ag Jeans. Now while I love the denim there and thinks it fits better than any other denim brand out there, you rarely see me in denim. Even though I wear it on a daily basis. So while getting ready for work the other morning, I decided to give you a peek of what I dress like on a daily basis to go to work.

This weekend was hands down the best weekend of the summer. I won't give you all the dirty details but work is better than ever. And you know what makes a job even better? When you are finally recognized for all the hard work you do. And what's a better way for your company to say thank you?? All access passes to Lollapalooza!!!! Oh My Goodness! Friday was amazing with the Strokes! Saturday was fantastic with Phoenix and let me just tell you Sunday with Arcade Fire was unbelievable. I'm someone who is moved by music in a big way. It sets the tone of my day, it inspires me to do more and it encourages me. So Sunday night's show was very close to me. Yes, I cried but as I looked around, I wasn't the only one. I can't thank my Job enough for giving me the opportunity to have been there.

On another note, Dethrose Vintage just added some new items and had hard markdowns on the old. The discounts are already in account and are noted SALE. 50% off before Fall 2010 isn't too shabby!! Can I just tell you how great and balanced I am finally feeling with Ag and Dethrose. And the balance of Inventory in Dethrose right now. I'm excited and I hope you all are too!!!

Wow! Boy am I tired...

This past week was possibly the most exhausting week I've had in a very very long time. First I had been sick for about 3 weeks...yes, I know that is a very long time to be sick. The minute I started to feel better, boom, sick again because I was running myself in the ground, taking too much on at one time. Then, I went to NYC for my full time job, for those who don't know, I work for AG jeans and the company was awesome enough to send me to NYC for a week! Umm...sickness, who cares when you're invited to NYC for all expense paid trip right?! And yes, I know it's funny that I work for a denim company and you all only see me in vintage dresses and skirts. Hahahaa, I never wear denim anymore when I am off because I wear it 5 days a week, I love it but I crave diversity in my wardrobe at all times. But I have to say, that's why I love my work at Ag and Dethrose, I can be whoever I'm feeling everyday, I wear many many hats. Not only do I have a lot going on at my full time job, I also have my Etsy and vintage showcases. This is where I spread to thin. Basically working 15 hours a day and crashing for a mere 4 to 5 hours of sleep.

Now I must regroup, focus and learn to take time to myself and relax. I don't have another vintage sale til August 22nd, the Vintage Bazaar, so my time will be Etsy and finding time for my friends. Oh! and of course the new season of Mad Men. I must blog about that later;)

The time has arrived...

It is my favorite time of year, ok yes, Summer but more importantly, Mad Men Season 4 premiere!!! I have been anticipating this all year long. It is literally my favorite show of all time. Well written, beautifully directed and the costume, Janie Bryant is a genius.

When I started watching this show, I honestly didn't expect much. There have been so many shows that have tried to do this and could not seem to get it right. The costume is always off, the timeline is missing important details, all in all its just wrong. Then Mad Men came along and got everything right. The writing alone would make up for any mistakes. Symbolism done right and the dialogue is not overdone. Thank you to AMC for developing a much needed brilliant show. And as much as you want to scream at the chauvinistic men and the weak willed women, you see their flaws and begin to relate to them in ways unexpected. As much as you want hate Don Draper and his frivolous behavior, you pity him and realize why he is the way he is. These characters have come so far and have changed so much in the 4 years of their lives with Sterling Cooper, I can't wait to see what 1964 and 1965 will bring to them.

I do have to thank Janie Bryant for being one of my favorite costume stylists for bringing such inspiration to Sunday nights. She has made men and women everywhere want to dress better and reminded us of what true style looks like!

A Bazaar, Timeout and ....

I unfortunately have been under the weather all weekend and most of the week so I have not been able to do all of what needs to be done with my new Blog that will be starting soon. I have decided to leave this blog behind and start a blog on wordpress.com. It will simply be dethrosevintage.wordpress.com. No posts as of yet, still working out all the kinks, but very very soon!

As I have mentioned, Dethrose Vintage is celebrating its launch with a 25% off sale storewide, on all merchandise including Sale!! I have so many new vintage items, I have to make room for it all. And if you are in the Chicago area August 22nd, I will be having an x-large booth at this seasons Vintage Bazaar!! I am so very excited and can't wait to see the turnout, considering last year there was a line around the block and I sold half of my store!! One can only hope this will be the same dream come true this time around. A big thank you to Katherine and Libby, the 2 lovely women who make this amazing pop up flea market happen. Hi everyone, so the day has come!! Max & Chloe Vintage is now Dethrose Vintage!! It was a long long process, but it finally finished. Dethrose Vintage is open for business. The lovely people of Etsy made this the easiest transition and they literally took care of everything for me and I couldn't be happier!! Changing my blog/Etsy and Shop update!

Hi all. So I need help. I am changing my name of my blog and Etsy Store. At the end of this month I will be no longer Max and Chloe Vintage. I will have a different name all together. I will let you know of the all the changes when the time is right. This is very sad but it had come to my attention that I know longer can be called Max & Chloe Vintage. Long story, but I do not want to lose any of you as readers and followers of my blog and Etsy. So here is where the help is needed. If any of you have any advice or tips or experiences of having to change your blog and/or Etsy store names or logos please let me know the easiest possible way to do this transition. I would greatly appreciate any feedback! Thank you very very much:)

On a happier note, here are some new listings I recently made the Shop! These will probably be the last listings I will have for awhile. Everything in the shop is currently going for 15% off (including sale merch!) as a preparation for the new shop. Tell everyone and pass it along and help me unload all my amazing vintage!!!

Weekend Woes

I hope everyone had an amazing 4th! Mine was oh so bittersweet. Spontaneously, I decided to go home to southern Illinois for the 4th. I wanted to get away if only for the day. Smell the fresh cut grass, hear the locusts sing me to sleep and enjoy the calmness of home. A mellow ease fell over me as soon as I left the city limits. I instantly knew my Sunday was going to be what I've been missing.

I awoke at my family's house, I seriously got the best sleep I have had in months, set out to prepare for an afternoon of grilling and lounging. Chicken kabobs with avocado glaze and fresh lemon, cucumber salad and a refreshing fruit salad was on the menu! Yummy indeed! Not to mention, the best black tea with fresh raspberries!! It was perfection, laughing with my mom and brother Jon and my adorable sister in law Heidi. It's probably my favorite treat when I go home.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Chicago, but when I'm there, I don't want to leave. That's why it is always so hard for me to take enough time off from work to go there. I never can take enough. I so much want to buy a little house somewhere small that can give me the same feeling of home. A beautiful yard, a quaint little house with screen doors, a clothing line and a porch. I don't think I'd rather be anywhere else in the evening than on a little porch enjoying the night air and the quiet, yet loud noises of locusts singing in the night. Taking photos of my vintage finds and playing dress up all day long and sending off my pretty little packages of vintage goodies to the lovely people who enjoy them.

My Mom, Sharyn and my favorite kitty, Orange Kitty...yes, that's it name.

One of my favorite parts of the trip, there are may, was spending much needed time with my dear friend Wes. Sitting on the porch enjoying the late night air and then taking a long long drive on all the back dirt roads talking about life and listening to good music. It really makes the stresses of everyday life seem so small and unimportant. Everything suddenly calm, relaxed and easy.

I love my family very much. Despite differences and distance, I feel closer to them now than I ever have in my life. My efforts this year to see them more and talk to them about things that are more important than the typical "how are things" will be my most important goal. Support and love for and from family and friends is what will make this the year what I need it to be.

Here is a quick lil outfit post from my trip to Pasadena with Amy. It's my favorite 1950's junior's dress. Ivory and butter cream yellow, ruffles and a full skirt! Super cute!! My sister and I managed to take a lot of pictures this time! We are always complaining about how we always bring our cameras everywhere with us but we are so terrible about never taking enough photos! This time we were there to remind one another of perfect photo opt's!

You've seen this dress before in a past post. It's my full proof dress. When in doubt, I just grab this little number and I always feel good about it. It is hard to do when I don't usually find myself repeating an outfit within a month or 2. That's when it really comes in handy to own your own little vintage stash:)

While shopping on the west coast I always find stuff I think my friends will like or things that remind me of them. One of the items I found was a Necklace of Africa. Immediately I thought of Sasha. Sasha owns a rad vintage store here in Chicago called Kokorokoko. Her store is a total nostalgic throwback to my generations child hood. As I mentioned in the last couple posts, Rose Bowl weekend was going to be a 3 parter. I have so many pictures too share.

Another big highlight was getting to see my best friend Kendra. Now here in Chicago and couple years ago, Kendra was my partner in crime. She is one of those friends that you can do absolutely nothing with and have a blast. We had many a late nights with a lot of laughs and it was a bittersweet moment when she moved to the west coast. She was moving far away but for all the right reasons. Now, Kendra is married to the man she moved for, Eric, and they just welcomed their first child, beautiful babygirl Darla Rose. The raddest family I could ever hope to know! There is so much love between them and I can't even tell you how much Kendra was meant to be a mother! Strength, humor and love. I only hope to be so lucky one day. Maybe not the child part, haha, but definitely the bond between Eric and Kendra. Serious marriage of best friends. Love you guys!!!

Rosebowl Finds and Family Time

So last weekend was one of those occasions I look forward to the most. Seeing my family, which I rarely get to do anymore, and shopping with my sister Amy. We set out to the lovely area of Pasadena for the fabulous Rose bowl flea market.

Amy was shopping for her home and fun items for her Etsy shop Vintage Market Place and I was shopping for Max & Chloe Vintage. As you can see in my past two posts, I have gotten a lot of cute and special items. Stepping it up for the summer time!! The Rose Bowl is going to be a destination trip I will be making a few times a year from now on. There was just so much to look at and sort through. Not enough time!

There are so many amazing antiques and vintage booths. I spent a day in la la land, playing in 30 and 40's day dresses, crinolines, tapestry and 50's dresses that Mrs. Draper would definitely have hanging in her closet. I was in heaven.

Our trip was short and sweet. A lot of shopping was accomplished and a lot of walking and just enjoying time with one another. I think we took over 200 photos! So this will probably be a 3 parter! And needless to say, I will be continuing to list numerous new items to the Shop over the next couple of months. Of course it goes without saying that vintage shopping is my favorite thing to do but seeing Amy, her hubby Rudy and my sweet adorable nephew Brooklyn was the highlight of this trip by far.

Today was the perfect day off. I woke up well rested to meet up with my friend Kat, long overdue hang out. Started off with Iced Coffee and much needed girl talk. Then we were off for photos for Max & Chloe Vintage. Driving back from coffee and chit chat, we came across the most perfect little nook off someone's apartment building. Ivy, green, green grass and huge trees!! This is why I love Chicago, there is always something new to notice in you very own neighborhood. I know I can't express how much I love my two favorite vintage lovin ladies who came together to create Vintage Heaven. Alma from Heaven's Gallery and Isa from my fav Chicago street style blog Chicago Looks, really put together something fabulous in the heart of Wicker Park. Located on 1550 N Milwaukee on the 2nd floor, Heaven's is well known for showing amazing local artists and music. And now they bring lovely vintage wear to the wicker park area. The next big sale is Saturday July 3rd, with hopes of 10 plus Chicago vintage vendors.

This week has been a pretty great week. Despite some stressful moments, I have been able to unwind with friends. Celebrated a few birthdays, went dancing, karaoke involving Gaga, Whitney and Danzig, so much fun!

Not to mention, getting a few things that brought a huge smile to my face!! My bike and a gorgeous vintage feather ring. Now, the bike is wonderful, I ride it everyday. But the ring...this is a truly sad story. I bought the ring from my friend Alma, who is the wonderful lady who puts together Vintage Heaven with my friend Isa. This ring was, yes was, truly fabulous. I put it on and didn't take it off for 2 days. The feather is one of my favorite things and the green stone was absolute perfection. It went with everything! One of those things that makes every outfit interesting. Unfortunately, the ring had a very short life. I put it on my finger the other day, moments later, I look down and sadness struck! The stone was gone! Gulp. I am so upset about this, i didn't even have time to fully bond with ring. Luckily, I was able to get a photo with it.

Estate sale, walk on the beach, hair styled and I vintage sale. Yep! That has been my day so far. I am worn out and I still have a concert and an art show to attend. I can't wait til next month when I go on vacation. A much needed vacation....

So needless to say I'm tired and my brain is not functioning well, so I won't subject you to my rambling. But tomorrow night I have a very exciting blogger meet up. I won't say who just yet....but it's gonna be so so much fun! Stay tuned.

I don't really have a lot to talk about in this post. I have been working kinda crazy hours and trying to catch up with friends. Dinners, dancing and entertaining. Oh and finally getting back on the bike. Thanks to my good friends Jenny and Scottie, who recently got me a bike and fixed up for me, I am enjoyin this summer weather and biking everywhere again!! Gettin my legs ready for summer I guess.

I have been neglecting the internet recently and not looking at the upcoming Summer fashion and the blogs that inspire me from day to day. But this weekend I hope to catch up on all of that.

Oh my gosh! A heat wave has finally reached Chicago! While others may be miserable, I am loving every minute of it. This time has been anticipated for weeks now. Some of you who live here know that this weather always hits us outta nowhere. Literally 4 days ago it was 50 degrees and raining, and then BAM! 87 Degrees and humid!! But I am in heaven:) Sun dresses, clogs, straw bags, iced lattes, sunglasses and walking everywhere!

Today was a whopping 90 degrees and so so sunny. So my dear friend James and I set out to enjoy the weather for a bit. Iced Latte, parfaits and shopping, possibly for Max & Chloe. Perfect day! Outside of the cute little shop Penelopes, we stumbled upon a wall with Ivy so I thought it would be perfect for some blog photos:)

What to keep, what to post to you....part 1

Finally I had a day of peace and quiet with not a lot on my plate. I spent today running errands (which I love) and meeting up with friends. I have had busy weekends for the past month. As you know, I have had vintage sale after vintage sale. This weekend was the Debonair Vintage Sale put together by one of my fav vintage chicago gals, Jillian from Joules Jewels Vintage. And Friday was the monthly Pilsen Art and Vintage Night where galleries and vintage shops stay open til midnight. It was a blast!! There is nothing more that I look forward too than doing theses sales, despite how much work they are. I shop way too much every month, but can you blame me??? There are just too many awesome vintage shops here to hold back.

I have been meaning to post some of the new goodies I have gotten recently. Here are just a few and I'm afraid this will have to be a two parter. I have gone way way overboard the past few weeks, I have to split it up into two blog posts.

Gorgeous chiffon 1950's floral dress from Knee Deep Vintage. I adore this store and Carlos, one of the fabulous owners, is amazing and always keeps me dressed impeccably:) Love him!!

And I save the best for last, late 30's/early 40's gorgeous day dress with polka dots, lace and floral buttons. And a beautiful hair piece, satin pink ribbon with brown netting. All bought at Deliciously Vintage, 1747 N. Halsted, such a great experience! The owner, Law, really knows how to interact with their clientele, I was there for 2 hours!! This is my new go to outfit:)

Lil' Illinois explorations

Usually on my days off I try and get together with friends and have coffee and do some outside city exploring. Those days usually consist of My dear friend James and I going to estate sales and antique shops. I would love to get other friends involved but unfortunately the majority of my friends work all week long and weekends off. Working retail, I rarely have my weekends to spare.

Yesterday was an exceptionally beautiful day! Not a cloud in the sky and high 60's! Simply gorgeous for thrifting and walking around the adorable little towns of Geneva and Batavia. It's days like these that make me homesick. Small and quaint towns, little nooks to explore and simplicity. We started at an estate sale and managed to leave with an arm full. We stopped for a little photo shoot. The house had a beautiful yard.

Our next stop was a gorgeous little antique shop, Bee Antiques, in downtown Batavia. The shop was in a beautiful home where we were told are residences but the main floor is the shop. I found a wonderful framed tapestry fabric and a 1950's butter yellow dress with pleating. The owner was so very sweet, I highly recommend her little shop.

Love tapestry and needlepoint artwork soo much. I swear I'm an 80 year old in a 29 year old body. The bird cages in this place were amazing!

I told ya last week week about the upcoming summer vintage pop up shops. Well, the first one happened this past weekend and they will go on every weekend from now til fall!! So exciting and fun! All in all this sale was a huge success! On Saturday alone Max & Chloe Vintage sold a half of a rolling rack!! Met some really stylish women and men, a lot of collaborations are in the works!! And basically, we had a great time. I am so super excited for the upcoming weekends!

Not to mention, I spent some much needed cash on some great finds. Now that this week has calmed down a bit, I will be able to show those finds off. And today was the first day I've been able to going estate sale shopping. I will post that adventure tomorrow! James and I went to a couple of really great small towns and got some great photos of our time shopping.

The first weekend was here at Heaven's Gallery. Located in the heart of Wicker Park off Milwaukee Ave. I loved seeing everyone in our little vintage community. Knee Deep Vintage, Joules Jewels, Bummer Town, Lenny & Me, Heliopsis and so many more!

Denim Days!!

I have been on a huge denim kick as of lately! I seriously have been scouring the thrift stores for every piece of denim. And I work in a denim shop!! As some of you may know, I work at AG jeans. I know, I know, I never wear jeans right? Well, I do love denim but I have to be in jeans everyday for work so when I'm off and out and about I always side step the denim. But lately, with all my shopping and catching up on my magazine subscriptions, I noticed how much I love the denim being shown this year. AG has some amazing cuts and styles coming out, so I'm stoked for that of course. But, Chloe, A.P.C., Current Elliot and Stella McCartney all have really fantastic pieces being shown!! Can I afford those? Absolutely not. So I take on the local thrift stores and estate sales to find the perfect pieces to achieve these designer looks. Here is one that I found a couple weeks ago that is pretty much a dead ringer for the A.P.C. Madras I love!

I have the hardest time finding denim skirts that look cute on me. This weekend was my lucky thrifting experience! 2 denim skirts that fit like a glove and an awesome vintage denim Levi's jacket. Not only did i find thrift treasures, I went to H&M and actually walked out with a load of cuteness! Including the outfit I wore to my Bonanza Vintage sale today! So for the next few weeks I will be alternating my new found denim with different pieces. Here are a few ideas so far. (Skirts and Jacket are all thrifted along with sweater and white dress)

Chicago was absolutely gorgeous today! 81 degrees and sunny. I got up so excited to put on my new dress and hat, which was perfect for the weather. I have been waiting and waiting to wear this late 50's light blue number. It's my little Zooey Deschanel dress, very similar to the one she wears in 500 days of summer in Ikea. And can we just talk about my new big bow hat! It was just the perfect finish to the outfit. I have been definitely going a little mad with the shopping this season. So many great lines are out there that I have been coming across, either from other bloggers or style.com. Not to mention, Anthropologie, my safety store. The last two days off I've had have been spent in thrift stores or vintage shops. I got an adorable denim skirt at Knee Deep Vintage the other day and this little blue number came from Pilsen Vintage. Buying unnecessary things are definitely my favorite things to buy. Oh, check out the fabric I got the other day for my Etsy back drop.

James arrived to pick me up at 9:30 and 2 lattes later we set out for a beautiful day off! First stop estate sale. I found so much loveliness for myself and Max & Chloe Vintage. Dresses, skirts and jewelry. So perfect for the upcoming vintage sales!! Look at how gorgeous the netted gloves are!!

Next stop, Ikea! It is so so easy to get caught up in the vortex of Ikea. But we stayed on track and even managed to take a few pictures along the way.

This week is hopefully going to prove to be productive and fun for Max & Chloe Vintage. I have recently gotten so many new things to list and for a couple vintage shows coming up in the next few weeks!! One Show is going to be on April 25th, Sunday at Berlin on Belmont Ave and the second will be on May 1st and 2nd at Heaven's Gallery on 1554 N Milwaukee. More details to come soon. Since booking these events, I have been searching and hunting for only the best items!! And man oh man, will ya all be pleased. I'm collecting a little bit of everything. 60's dresses, 50's blouses, shoes, jewelry, hats and handbags galore!!! I am so excited!!

The last couple of days I have been feelin a little under the weather. Didn't do much considering I couldn't really move. I hate days like this because I never like a day that isn't productive in some way. So I propped a pillow behind me and took this opportune time to blog and list an item on etsy.

I took a few pictures the other day on my actual day off and never got around to post them. I had gone to Anthropologie on Thursday and got this sweet little cardigan. I seriously can not go in there without purchasing something. But I feel like this little number will go with just about everything. This time around I paired it with a 1960's shift dress that I absolutely adore! It's always my go to dress when I don't know what to wear.

About 5 new vintage dresses later and the new She and Him Album, I was worn out from my online shopping spree. I do adore the new She and Him album! I really am so envious of Zooey's voice. I am however very pleased to see she has changed her wardrobe choices. Less Poly and more cotton and rayon. Wise choice Zooey!

Once again, the change of seasons are upon us. Which means yay! time for shopping. Shopping for a new a hopefully bright Summer season. I know I am good and ready. Now, let's not lie, I began summer shopping about two months ago. Not only for Max & Chloe but for myself! Now its all about shoes and dresses. I'm not sure what I am going to go for yet. I am really into french pop and 1960's but my hair is not quite there yet. So its either, cut it all off again and go for the pixie or keep growing it and have sexy french girl bed head... Oh the decisions!! Any suggestions are welcome. Until then, I have got to settle my mind. It's going in too many directions. Girly, classic, androgynous, laid back, lady like, aahhhh, i just don't know. I'll probably do what I usually do and be a different girl everyday. I kinda like that, but it makes getting ready every morning all the more difficult.

I am in the market for so many things. Most importantly, summer shoes. I don't need the of course but I want them. Scouring thrift stores and vintage shops, anthropologie, barneys, H&M, and as many online stores I have come across. Not to mention my fellow fashion blogging ladies, you all post so many great ideas and info on shops to explore. Here are a few things I have come across. Weather and Another Shop Update

It official that Chicago weather is Bi Polar. Sunny, cloudy, raining, hot, cold all in one weekend. So my plans had been all over the place and no outfit post were able to be taken:( I wanted to take some today so badly and I left the house without the memory card in my camera. It was such a shame too, I had on my new baby blue cotton 1950's day dress. I was picking up my friend Jenny to get brunch and then onto a BBQ bday and not only was Jenny's cardigan amazing (a complete scene of a foxhunt), the home of the bday girl was truly inspiring! Maybe I can take photos of the house soon, so many great antiques and just an adorable aesthetic all around.

This weekend was full of events. Friday was my friends Emmi and Jason's band, The Ornery Darlings, performing at the EP Theater. Man oh man did they rock it! If you have heard their music check it here. Such a great night which I will be posting about tomorrow in greater detail.

Saturday was just a night of friends, dinner and dancing! I got to see some of my favorite people and I made a lot of great new friends. People I can't wait to hang out with again soon! I was talking to someone about my fashion habits. I make story boards of fashion that catches my eye and create my own outfits and inspirational boards. Whether its new designers, layouts, editorials, vintage and piece it all together. So this fabulous person informed me of a website called Polyvore, it's basically what I do with out the paper and glue. An internet paper doll if you will. So I haven't tried it yet, but I will be sure to let you know as soon as i do!

Wow! I haven't posted in a few days. My apologies, I have been busy busy busy. Trying to get some of my life in order and really going out way too much. Balance is key. But I must say, I haven't been this happy in years and I don't mind the chaos.

First off, I will be posting some photos of the new H&M items I scored the other morning when their new Garden Collection came out. Eco friendly clothing has never been so cute! I got so many new cute things I can't wait to share them with you.

Second, my friends and family have recently sent me some lovely things. I think that it's one of the most glorious feelings to open a little package wrapped with love!

So I was not expecting to do listings today but after a day of errands and dinner with friends I felt a bit under the weather. This meant I'm not going out dancing or to meet up with friends, I'm sitting and listing new spring items.

I awoke to head right to the post office to mail off items to my vintage lovin customers. Then headed straight to get my hair done. Following, I went to spend some much needed QT with Laura and Amy (a post on these lovely ladies later). That QT went later into dinner and fun chit chat, much needed chit chat!!

Unfortunately, I fell sick. And this put a huge damper on my dancing plans for Smith's night. Since I was feeling ill, why not do something productive while sitting. Blog post and new etsy items. Hello Daddy, Hello Mom!

I awoke late, very late today after a night of soul and good friends. I didn't really have a day planned out. I just knew that when night came I was going to see The Runaways movie. For those of you who might not know, I always dreamed of being a lead singer in a band. A pock rock girl band. As a teenager, my fav bands were The Clash, Le Tigre, X-Ray Spex, Rancid and other various punk or metal bands. I know I drove my mother crazy listening to this and dressing the way I did, getting tattooed, stretching my ears and dying my hair various colors. So when my style changed, more refined and less rough she could breath a sigh of relief. But seeing this movie brought it all back! I wanted to put on a Blondie album and grab my leather!

Now, I was quite skeptical when I heard of this movie being made. Mostly because of the casting. I'm not a huge fan of Kristen Stewart. She seems like a one sided actress and frankly her mannerisms can be quite annoying. So when they said she was going to play Joan Jett, I was a bit confused. And I wasn't sure how to feel about Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curry. No real opinion about her but uncertainty. However, I saw the movie tonight and well, I was happily surprised. Only a few Kristen Stewart mannerisms slipped through, mostly she WAS Joan Jett! Tough rock ambiguous chick. And Dakota Fanning, she was very convincing. She had Cherie's voice and moves down. It was interesting, enjoyable and the music freakin rocked! It did make me wanna watch Freaks and Geeks really bad. I always thought I was born in the wrong era, and I have been told that repeatedly. It's usually various decades and tonight it was the 70's.

Earlier in the day, full of errands and running around, I managed to make it to the last day of the vintage Spring Fling Sale. Jillian from Joules Jewels Vintage was selling there and I had to go and see what awesome vintage she would be selling. And Oh my was i glad I did! It ended up being quite the amazing day!! I found an amazing leather jacket, perfect for watching The Runaways. A few dresses, watch, ring and bumping into a few other lovely vintage gals, it was great. I took a few photos but I will have to take more of my findings later.

Among other little tasks today, I managed to take an outfit post photo of a couple of the new goodies and some etsy photos that I will list on Max & Chloe Vintage this week.

I've been wanting to do this blog for a while. And well, tonight couldn't be a better night. When I think of stylish and strong women I think of some of the women in my family. Mom, Amy and Grandma Kristina.

I never got to know my grandma but from all I've heard, she was something special. Stories and photos of her just tell me how stylish, talented and strong she was. Raising 4 daughters and a son, Grandma looked so effortlessly stylish in every photo I have seen.

My mom, Sharyn, I know for a fact is one strong woman. Mother of 5! yeesh!! And though, 5 kids, workin hard as a single parent, Mom always manages to look her best. Make up, hair and clothes in tact! My biggest memory of my mom is her scent. Mom has always had a soft spot for her eau de parfum's! And can we just talk about her beauty mark! I was always so envious of that little dot above her lip. I still draw mine on from time to time:)

My Sis Amy is one tough cookie! Ha ha ha. So one of the things my sister and I have in common is how strong we are with our convictions. Man if we believe in something or if someone we love is harmed we stick up for it or them like our life depends on it! The other thing we have in common is our creativity. Mine is more about styling, clothing and fashion history. Where as Amy's is her artwork and life spaces. She can turn a boring wall into something amazing! I can turn a boring outfit into something interesting (at least I try to). Style wise, Amy is laid back and carefree. She still makes Maxi dresses look adorable.

Mom, I wanted to write this tonight because I want to thank you for raising me well. Yes, I still have a mouth on me from time to time. You taught me to be independent, thankful, elegant, classy and above all, kind. And today, all those things came in handy. I just want you to know, today, I stood up for myself without saying a word. With your poise and strength, I smiled while being thankful that I wasn't the one with a frown on my face that said volumes. Today, i felt lucky. Thank you and I love you.

Here's to a weekend of great friends and experiences! I have in the last few months met and rekindled some of the best friends I could ask for. Still, others try to be negative, dramatic, or just down right mean. Thankfully I have found a way to avoid all this and focus on the people in my life who are constantly inspiring and a positive reinforcement. People that make me laugh, make me wanna be a better person, make me wanna succeed and that believe in me. These are the people that have made me realize what I'm capable of and why I've had the biggest smile on my face, bigger than I've had in a long long time. So thanks, Amy (Big SIS), James, Emmi, Kat, Jenny, Dustin, Isa, Jason, Peter, Kendra, Jon, Heidi, Mark, David, Mother and Ash. Oh, and to all the stylish, vintage lovin ladies and gentlemen I have been able to meet and spend time with. I am so glad and I am privileged to have ya in my life:)

Ha ha ha, I said in my last post title new listings. I posted everything but! Silly me. Currently, I am sitting upon a lot of amazing vintage. I really need to get a move on posting new items at least twice a week. Hopefully I can get in the habit of posting 10 to 20 new items a week. I have had some great luck finding some amazing pieces for spring. Some great things from all eras:) And including some tiny tiny dresses for all you petite girls. Friday, Ashley and I set out to take some photos for Etsy and the Blog. First we fueled up at our favorite breakfast spot, Bongo Room. Umm, hi pancakes and coffee, yes please!! After breakfast, we went around the city to different locations and took pictures. Hopefully I'll be able to do this once a week now since the weather is beginning to be so nice. I just love outdoor photos. They always turn out so crisp and clear. Since we were doing on location type of shoots, we had to awkwardly change our outfits in the car! We stumbled upon a great little park area and got a little sidetracked and played. So enjoy the behind the scenes photos!

People tell me that I have an Espresso abuse problem. But there are worse addictions right? I officially have had 3 four shot latte's today. I don't even notice that I have had too much. But when I know I have to get a lot done a latte just seems right. That was pretty much how today played out.

I took it upon myself this Saturday to take a break from the rest of the world. I have not had a night to myself in a little over a week. I knew starting Sunday I would be having another busy week, so it was time to relax.

I went and finally got The September Issue, got a comfy blanket and wrapped myself into the fast paced fashion world. Grace Coddington is my new hero. Grace is the Creative Fashion Editor for Vogue. She is everything that the fashion world needs. Grace speaks about fashion, photography and inspiration understanding the true beauty of it all. Understanding that not all of us are into fashion simply for the approval of others or the others using fashion to be someone they're not. For most of us, fashion is expression of mood, creativity and individuality. Some may look at an ad for Chanel and only see the product. For myself, I get lost in the story line of the photo. The romanticism of the garment. The dream like world created by the photographer, stylist and the model let us all be a part of. And can I just say, the deleted scenes are something to explore. Please look at the showing of Dior that John Galliano gives Anna. Very fresh, floral and oh so 60's. Amazing! I have watched that part so so many times.

Since purchasing this film, I have had it on in the background while I work. It gives me a kick of inspiration to create something beautiful.

So this is the beauty I found myself creating Saturday night.

These are all items that I have found over the past few months and weeks. Most are from Estate sales or garage sales in San Francisco, Southern Illinois and Michigan. I finally got the inspiration I needed to show them off. Silk scarves, porcelain hand mirrors and brushes, 40's sewing patterns and numerous tapestry items! Tapestry in every way is my favorite obsession right now. There is something so digital and modern about it to me.

Today was rough. Once again I went out dancing, Oldies Night is my fav, and I awoke at 7:30 am to get to an estate sale. Although I was hurtin, I went and boy am I glad I did! Did I mention I had to wait an hour outside in the cold in line to get in?! I got into the house and shoes, bags, scarves, 1960's called and thankfully I was there to answer! I have been watching a lot of That Girl, so I really have been channeling my inner Marlo Thomas. So much to my surprise, everything was my size! Now comes a new dilemma, what do I keep and what do I share with Max & Chloe Vintage? Your answers will be requested as soon as I get the pictures posted.

As I mentioned in my past blog, I subscribe to 6 magazines. But as of lately, I have been getting my inspiration from old style icons and decades. Over the past year or so it's been Early 60's Mad Men, now I'm thinking mid to late 60's circa Paris. Now for those of you who know me, I switch my style up every couple years. Vintage is always the common denominator in these change ups. I get influenced by different ladies simply by just learning more about them. I'm feeling the inner strength and sexiness of Francoise, Jane, Charlotte and Jean. But I do have to say between Fendi and Roberto Cavalli, two designers that aren't usually my taste, have used vintage influences this season to make some truly breathtaking designs. Also, DVF and MIU MIU have the prettiest and flirty dresses. This spring and summer are going to be truly special!!!

When i got dressed this morning, I remembered this little Khaki dress Francoise Hardy and Jane Birkin wore in 1964 Paris. So I went into Max & Chloe Vintage and borrowed this number. Along with the dress, the houndstooth coat, I bought that this morning at the estate sale! So adorable:)
